All dried up (part deux)
Given that I've got little to say at the moment, (loads of iterests but little substance that I can contribute to conversations) I thought that I'd delve into some past prayer writing of my own and bits and pieces that have spoken to me recently.
here's a set of day prayers I wrote for st Lawrence's church. They owe a great deal to the daily office of the Northumbria Community. They were written so as to fit onto a card (if you use Tahoma 10pt), that could be folded into the size of a credit card and kept by church members in purses and wallets.
Morning Prayer
One thing we ask,
one thing we seek
to spend our days
in your presence
oh God our Father.
Father, be in our thoughts
as we journey this day.
Lord Jesus, be in our hearts
and in those we meet.
O Spirit of God energise our
every act and word
that the beauty of Christ
might be seen in us.
Midday Prayer (noon and 1pm)
Lord God
be in our every act.
May all we do
reflect Your loving grace.
May our words tell others
of Your love.
May our actions speak
of Your grace and power.
May each person we meet
have reason
to be grateful to You,
oh Lord our God.
Evening Prayer
Lord, thank you for being
with us today.
Thank you that you have
given us all we need.
Thank you for being there
in the dark hours as well as
the easy ones.
Lord, may Your provision
always be enough for us
and forgive us for those
times when we place other
considerations before You.
Night Prayer
O Lord God
at the end of this day:
Father encircle us with your
love,
Jesus restore us in sleep,
Spirit inhabit us with Your
peace;
that tomorrow, refreshed,
we may serve you well
O Lord our God
excellent. what a brilliant idea - to have them fit on to a credit-card-sized-card.
